Cuttlefish - Did You Know?
The Cuttlefish has one of the largest brain-to-body size ratio of all invertebrates!
- Cuttle refers to their internal shell, or 'Cuttlebone'.
- They are related to Octopi & Squid (Cephalopods).
- Despite being colour blind, they can change the colour, pattern and texture of their skin to match their background, even complete darkness!
- Reflecting plates on their skin reflect certain wavelengths of light, creating the 'shimmering' effect across their body!
